I was intrigued by the fact that this fried tofu dish was introduced on a TV program and was hearty and would look great on the table, so I decided to make it.

How to make “Minced meat and egg fried tofu wrap” by Tasan Shima

Ingredients (for 4 pieces)

・Silk tofu…1 pack
・Minced meat (minced pork or mixed ground meat is OK)…200g
・Salt…appropriate amount
・Pepper…appropriate amount
・Potato starch…approx. 2 tablespoons
・Fried tofu…2 pieces
・Eggs…4 pieces
・Olive oil…3 tablespoons
・Garlic・・・1 clove
・Canned cut tomatoes…1 can
・Water…200cc
・Sugar…a pinch

How to make ① Add minced meat, tofu, salt and pepper, and potato starch to a bowl and mix.

Place the minced meat and drained tofu in a bowl, add salt, pepper, and potato starch, and mix by hand.

By adding tofu to the minced meat, it increases the volume and acts as a binder.

How to make ② Roll chopsticks over the fried tofu

If the tofu is not cut in the middle, such as Inari-san fried tofu, cut it in half.

Place the fried tofu on a cutting board and roll it around with chopsticks! By loosening the tofu thoroughly with chopsticks, you can open the tofu neatly.

How to make ③ Fill the seeds from ① to about half, add the egg and secure with a toothpick.

Let’s stuff the minced meat from earlier into the open fried tofu.

Since you’ll be putting raw eggs on top, it’s best to fill it with about half of the fried tofu!

Crack a raw egg over each stuffed minced meat and secure it with a toothpick!

I was a little nervous for a moment, worried that the eggs would spill out (lol).

How to make ④ Heat olive oil and garlic in a pot, then add canned tomatoes, water, and seasonings to taste.

Heat the olive oil and crushed garlic in a pot, and when it becomes fragrant, add the canned tomatoes and water.

Next, add salt, pepper, and sugar to taste!

How to make ⑤ Place the fried tofu stuffed with seeds in the pot from ④ and heat for 15 minutes, then cut in half and serve.

Place the fried tofu from ③ in a pot and simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes.

I covered it and simmered it to make sure it was cooked all the way to the center.
